Dance Team
For the serious technical dancer who is looking to compete throughout the year. A minimum of 3 competitions will be attended. Entry is based on audition only. In addition to team practice, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 1.5 hours weekly lessons (ages 6-9), a minimum of 2.25 hours weekly lessons (ages 10-12), and a minimum 3.5 hours of weekly lessons (ages 13 plus).
Meet the Team
Teens:
Allie
Allie is sixteen years old and in the tenth grade. She loves to dance it makes her feel free and gives her a space to express her emotions physically. She enjoys the company of her teammates and teacher and considers them her support system to help get through life. The family atmosphere is her favorite part about being on the Dance Team, although the performances and competitions are also up there. This season she is in six dances including her solo and is most excited for the team group lyrical “Wherever You Will Go” because lyrical is her favorite style. She has been on the Dance Team for eight years and has been dancing with the studio for twelve. Outside of dancing she likes to spend time with friends and family, play with her dog, go out into the city, listen to music and go to sports games. When Allie grows up, she either wants to be a lawyer or a psychologist.
Anna
Anna is sixteen years old and in the tenth grade. Her favorite style of dance is jazz, which is why she is most excited to perform in the group jazz dance “Black Betty” this season. This is her tenth year at the studio but only her sixth year on the Dance Team. This season she is in four competitive group dances as well as a solo. Dance is her escape with negative things that happen, and she loves the supportive community of the team. She enjoys getting to challenge herself, practicing discipline and learning new things. Outside of the studio, she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, going to work, shopping and baking. When Anna grows up, she wants to be a design manager in the fashion industry.
Brooke
Brooke is fifteen years old and in the ninth grade. She has been dancing at Elite for twelve years and has been on the Dance Team for nine of them. She is most excited for the contemporary group dance “Power” this year because contemporary is her favorite style of dance. She loves the way dance allows her to express emotions and that the team has become her second family. She loves competition and getting to her friends every day in rehearsals. She is in five competitive Team Dances and has a duet this season. When she’s not at the studio you can find her at the beach or in Boston shopping and hanging out with her friends. When Brooke grows up, she either wants to be a doctor or a business owner.
Shaili
Shaili is fifteen years old and in the tenth grade. Her favorite style of dance is contemporary which is why she’s most excited for the contemporary team dance “Power” this season. Besides contemporary, she is also in seven other team dances and has a solo. She has been dancing at Elite for nine years and has been on the dance for seven. She loves being with her teammates- which have become her second family-, the fun of competitions and getting to perform on stage. Getting to express herself in ways other than words is her favorite part of dancing. Her favorite song is “You Belong with Me” by Taylor Swift and you can probably find her scream singing along to it with her friends during breaks in rehearsal. When Shaili grows up, she wants to work in computer science and maybe become a coder.
Yasmin
Yasmin is fourteen years old and in the ninth grade. She has been dancing at Elite for eleven years and this is her second year on the Dance Team. Her favorite style of dance is jazz, which is why she is most excited to perform in the group jazz dance “Black Betty.” Her favorite part of being on the Dance Team is how close everyone becomes and getting to learn not only dances but life skills. She also loves to express emotion through the movement of dance. She is in three competitive dances this season. Outside of dancing, she likes to spend time with friends and family. When Yasmin grows up, she wants to be an immigrant lawyer.
Addie
Addie is thirteen years old and in the eighth grade. This is her first year on the Dance Team, but she has been dancing with Elite for six years. She likes being able to express herself through dance and the studio makes her feel safe and at home. She loves being part of the community that the studio and Dance Team creates. She is in three competitive dances this season and is most excited to compete in the group tap dance because it’s her favorite style. When she’s not in the studio she talks and hangs out with friends. When Addie grows up, she wants to be a lawyer.
Audrey
Audrey is thirteen years old and in the eighth grade. What she loves most about dancing is getting to meet and be around so many people. She loves that she gets to express her emotions through dance and enjoys pushing herself harder in rehearsals to become a better dancer. She has been dancing at Elite for ten years, but this is her first year on the Dance Team. Her favorite style of dance is jazz and that’s why she is most excited to be part of a competitive jazz dance this season. She is in three competitive dances this year including her solo. When she’s not dancing you can find her on the court playing Volleyball. When Audrey grows up, she wants to be an interior designer.
Jessie
Jessie is thirteen years old and in the seventh grade. Her favorite style of dance is jazz, and she is most excited to compete in the group jazz dance “Six” this season. She has been on the Dance Team for eight years and with the studio for twelve. She likes to dance because it is a space place to let go, she doesn’t need to worry about the outside world and the people surrounding her nice and comforting. She also likes going to competitions and hanging out with her teammates. This year she is in six competitive dances, including a solo. When she isn’t dancing, you can find her drawing or hanging out with her friends. When Jessie grows up, she wants to be a realtor.
Leila
Leila is thirteen years old and in the eighth grade. She is in eight competitive dances, including her solo, but she’s most looking forward to performing the group contemporary number “Power.” Her favorite style of dance is contemporary, but she also loves Jumps and Turns class- as long as she’s joined by friends. She’s been dancing with the studio for 8 years and has been on the Team for six. She loves dance because of how she can convey emotions and build strong relationships with her teammates. As much as she loves dancing, she also loves to sleep- and talk with her friends. You can also catch her listening to her favorite song “Cardigan” by Taylor Swift. When Leila grows up, she wants to work for the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI.
Juniors:
Reese
Reese is eleven years old and in the fifth grade. This is her first year both at Elite and on the Dance Team. She is in three competitive dances this year and is most excited to perform in the group lyrical dance this season, because that’s her favorite style of dance. She loves learning new dances and getting to perform them on stage with her friends. She loves how fun dance is and the way she gets to move her body to express things. She is most excited about the sisters program within the team, where every team member gets assigned two sisters to support and encourage for the entire season. She is super excited to start competing alongside the rest of the team at their first competition in March. Outside of the studio, she likes to hang out with friends and listen to music. When Reese grows up, she wants to be a professional dancer.
Charlotte
Charlotte is ten years old and in the fifth grade. She is in seven competitive dances this season, including a duet. She has been on the Dance Team for two years but has been dancing with Elite for six. She’s most excited for the team hip hop dance this year because hip hop is her favorite style. She loves learning all her new dances every season and getting to compete them on stage. She thinks dance is really fun and loves seeing her friends in class. When she’s not in the studio, you can find her on the field- playing sports or hanging out with friends. When Charlotte grows up, she wants to be a dancer on Broadway!
Erin
Erin is ten years old and in the fifth grade. She has been dancing at Elite for five years and this is her second year on the dance team. She loves learning the dances and getting to perform them on stage. That’s her favorite part about being on team too- she loves getting to perform her favorite dances multiple times throughout the season. In her free time, she likes to call her friends and talk on the phone for hours! She is in three competitive group dances this season as well as a duet. She’s most excited about performing the group jazz dance this year, even though her favorite style is ballet. When Erin grows up, she wants to be a dance teacher and show kids the joy in dance that she has found.
Kathryn
Kathryn is ten years old and in the fifth grade. This season she is in seven competitive dances including a trio and solo. Her favorite style of dance is lyrical, which is why she most excited to compete her Lyrical Solo “Take Me to Church.” She has been dancing at Elite for eight years and has been on the Dance Team for four of those years. She likes to get better at her technique and challenge herself with new moves in class. Dancing is when she feels the most alive and she enjoys competing and getting to hang out with her friends. Outside of dancing, she loves singing in church, playing piano and doing theatre. When Kathryn grows up, she wants to be an interior designer.
Lilianna
Lilianna is ten years old and in the fourth grade. She’s been dancing at Elite for eight years and has been on the Dance Team for five. Her favorite thing about dance is learning it! She’s always dancing everywhere she goes and loves being on the stage in her sparkling costumes and listening to the audience cheer for her and her teammates. She is in seven competitive dances, including a trio, and is most excited about being in the group lyrical dance “Forever Young” because lyrical is her favorite style. Besides dancing she also plays soccer and likes to hang out with her friends and family. When Lilliana grows up, she wants to be a mother and have a family of her own.
Lily
Lily is ten years old and in the fifth grade. Her favorite style of dance is Acro and she’s so excited to be in the Team Acro dance “We like to Party!” She’s been dancing at Elite for eight years and has spent four of those years on the Dance Team. She loves her dance family and expressing herself through dance. She is in six competitive Team Dances as well as a solo, duo and trio! Her favorite part about being on the dance team is getting to dance with friends, travel to the different places for competitions and being on stage. When she’s not at dance you can find her drawing, playing wiffle ball or listening to her favorite song “Lily” by Alan Walker. When Lily grows up, she wants to work for a tech company and change the world.
Grace
Grace is nine years old and in the fourth grade. Her favorite style of dance is Acro and that’s why she’s most excited about performing her Acro duet “Girl Party.” Her favorite part of dance is trying new styles, learning new dances and getting to compete with her friends by her side. This will be her third year on the Dance Team and fourth year dancing at the studio. This season she is competing in seven dances, including a solo and duet. Outside of dancing, she loves to play with her friends. When Grace grows up, she wants to be a teacher!
Rose
Rose is eight years old and in the third grade. She’s been dancing at Elite her whole life, literally! And she’s been on the Dance Team for five years. Her favorite thing about dance is getting to flip around, which is no surprise since her favorite style is Acro. She loves dancing because she gets to perform and put on a show, plus it’s fun! Out of her nine competitive dances, including a duo and solo, she is most excited for the group Acro “We like to party!” Outside of the studio she enjoys playing with friends and family, especially her sister Olivia. When Rose grows up, she wants to be a dance teacher, just like her mom!
Payton
Payton is nine years old and in the fourth grade. This is her second year at Elite and her first year on the Dance Team. She is in two competitive dances and is most excited about the group Acro dance, even though Jazz is her favorite style. She loves the movement of dance and getting to dance alongside her friends. Outside of dance she likes to do gymnastics and work on her tricks. When Payton grows up, she wants to be a gymnast or gymnastic teacher.
Emma
Emma is nine years old and in the fourth grade. She has been dancing at the studio for as long as she has been on team- two years! She loves to dance and compete with her friends because of how fun it is. Her favorite style of dance is Acro. This season she is in five competitive dances, including a duet, which is her favorite dance to perform. Outside of being on the Dance Team she is also a girl scout and cheerleader. When Emma grows up, she wants to be an actress.
Isabella
Isabella is eight years old and in the third grade. This is her seventh year at the dance studio and her second year on the dance team. Her favorite style of dance is Acro, but she is most excited to perform in the group jazz dance. This season she is in four competitive dances. She loves putting emotion into dancing, competing and getting to talk with her friends on the team. When she’s not dancing, you can find her on the field playing soccer. When Isabella grows up, she wants to be a doctor.
Taylor
Katherine
Katherine is eight years old and in the third grade. She has been on the Dance Team for two years and at the studio for three. She loves getting to dance with her friends and working on her Acro tricks. Acro tricks are her favorite part of dance because Acro is her favorite style of dance. She is in six competitive Team dances this year, but she is most excited for the group ballet dance “Don’t You Worry Child.” Outside of dancing, she likes to be creative, watch tv and go to trampoline parks. When Katherine grows up, she wants to compete in the Olympics!
Lia
Lia is eight years old and in the third grade. This is her fifth year at Elite and third year on the Dance Team. This season she is in four competitive dances and is most excited for the group Hip Hop dance “It Takes Two.” She loves learning new dances, practicing her favorite style jazz and tricks in class. Her favorite part of being on the Team is the sisters program, where each member gets assigned two teammates to cheer on and support throughout the year. Besides dancing, she also loves to sing. When Lia grows up, she wants to be a dance teacher.
Minis:
Rosalie
Rosalie is eight years old and in the third grade. She has been dancing at Elite for seven years. This is her first year on the Dance Team, and she is in three competitive dances. She loves that she gets to be on the Team with her little sister, Lillian, and be in some of their dances together. She loves dance because it makes her feel happy and she gets to spend time with friends and her teachers. She loves every style of dance but is most excited to perform the team tap dance “Mambo #5.” When she isn’t at the studio, she’s at school practicing for her school play. When Rosalie grows up, she wants to be a restaurant owner.
Caitlin
Caitlin is seven years old and in the first grade. Her favorite style of dance is ballet, and she loves to learn new things in class. She loves how fun dance is because she gets to make new friends, learn new dances and try new things! She’s been dancing at the studio for six years and this is her second year on the Dance Team. She loves performing on stage for the judges and getting trophies for her hard work. She is in four competitive dances this year and most excited for her group jazz dance “I Gotta Wear my Shades.” She enjoys playing with her sister, riding her bike and sometimes skiing when she isn’t in the studio. When Caitlin grows up, she wants to be a teacher and a mom.
Hadley
Hadley is seven years old and in the second grade. She loves all the different styles of dance, getting to perform on stage and the fun and joy dancing brings. This is her third year at the studio and her second year on the Dance Team. She is in six competitive dances this season and is most excited for her group Tap dance “Ice Ice Baby”, but her favorite style of dance is jazz. When she’s not at the studio she likes to play hide and seek with her friends. When Hadley grows up, she wants to be a professional dancer.
Olivia
Olivia is seven years old and in the first grade. Her favorite song is “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves and if she could have any superpower, she’d want to be magical. She is in five competitive team dances, a duo and has her very own solo. She loves to be on stage and thinks dance is so much fun! Her favorite style of dance is Acro, which is why she’s so happy to be in the group Acro dance “We like to Party!” She has been at Elite for six years and on the Team for five of them. She adores art and wants to be an art teacher when she grows up.
Anya
Anyah is six years old and is in kindergarten. She absolutely loves dancing and doing all her favorite moves in class. She’s been dancing with Elite for five years and joined the dance team last year, making this her second year. She loves competing and winning trophies. This season she is in four team dances but is most excited to perform her tap dance. Her favorite color is pink and her favorite style of dance in ballet. Outside of dancing, she likes to run around and play outside. When Anyah grows up, she wants to be a mom and have a family just as big as hers!
Lillian
Lillian is six years old and in the first grade. This is her first year on the Dance Team, but she’s been dancing at the studio for five years. Her favorite style of dance is Acro but she’s most excited to perform her team tap dance “Mambo #5.” She is in four competitive dances this season and is so excited to be dancing with her friends. She loves practicing the dances and nothing makes her happier than dancing. Outside of dance she likes to play with her sister, Rosalie. When Lillian grows up she wants to be a Veterinarian and take care of lots of animals!
Lily
Lily is six years old and in the first grade. She’s been dancing at Elite for two years and has been on the Dance Team for both of them! Outside of the studio, she likes to jump rope, play video games and she’s a cheerleader. Her favorite style of dance is ballet, but she is most excited for her competitive group jazz dance. This season she is in four competitive dances and is super excited to compete again because that’s her favorite part! She loves dance because of how fun it is and how it builds a family of friends. Her favorite part of being on the Dance Team is the ‘Sisters’ program where every team member gets two sisters to spend the season sharing gifts and encouragement with. When Lily grows up, she wants to be a first-grade teacher, just like her current one!
